Wanted CNC Operator

Scan any industrial area Peenya, Metoda, Chakan, Waluj, Vatva or IMT Faridabad, FOCAL Point or Jeedimetla you will see boards hung on gates just one message WANTED CNC Operators. Immediate Joining. Thousands of jobs.

CEOs proudly boast of their glitzy MAZAKs or DMGs as their prized assets. Factories are buying 60000 new CNC machines every year, where are they finding people to run them. India needs 200000 CNC operators every year, kahan se laoge, ustaad?

I believe we have been looking at this problem only halfway. Machines and operators are both revenue generators. The difference is simple. Machines you can buy. Operators who consistently deliver productivity, quality and discipline are becoming harder to find every passing year.

A machine shop owner can place an order for a new CNC machine worth lakhs or crores and get delivery in weeks. But can you place an order for a dependable CNC operator with machining knowledge, work ethic, process understanding and consistency. Pay him more than a gig job at Swiggy or Blink It. The answer is no.

That is where the real manufacturing crisis is quietly building, 30% of machines idle due to lack of operators in MSMEs.

A CNC machine without an operator is not an asset. It is an expensive idle investment consuming space, EMI, electricity and opportunity. Every spindle standing still means lost production, delayed delivery, missed customer commitments and shrinking margins.

Interestingly, CADEM anticipated this out nearly 13 years ago. Long before operator shortage became front page or ‘front gate’ reality, the team realised that depending only on hiring would eventually become unsustainable for manufacturing. The answer was not endless recruitment. The answer was to build CNC operators systematically inside the factory itself.

That thinking led to the creation of profiCNC, a digital CNC skilling system built to help manufacturers create job ready operators faster and more consistently. With structured multimedia learning, machining fundamentals and CNC simulator based practice, the idea was simple. Reduce dependence on uncertain hiring and help factories build their own CNC talent pipeline.

If you have 20 machines or more and ambition to grow, invest in profiCNC.

Maybe the real question for CEOs is no longer how do we hire more CNC operators. But how do we create them.

The Goldilocks Principle

The Goldilocks and the Three Bears gave us a simple idea. Goldilocks wanted perfection in everything. Not too hot not too cold not too big not too small. Just right.

The Iceberg Effect
The Iceberg Effect

The Titanic sank not because of what was visible, but what was hidden beneath the surface. That is the Iceberg Effect. When only a small part of the problem is visible, while the bulk remains unseen.

The story of an operational excellence consultant
“I was called into a small sheet metal factory with twelve presses. The owner wanted higher output. He believed the shop was running well, but the numbers refused to move. My role was simple: find the losses and fix them.
The Swiss Cheese Effect

07 May 2020, at 0300 hours, a strange smell engulfed the Gopalpuram. Within a few hours 12 lives were lost. The deadly Styrene gas leaked from an LG Polymers storage tank caused this major disaster.
